"A Seattle Times poll of Puget Sound-area residents found that people support remedies for the region's traffic problems, even if their own commutes won't improve... 'The cynical view is that people want mass transit for other people,' said Stuart Elway, who conducted the telephone poll last week. 'But it's ultimately more altruistic than that. People are supporting things that are good for the region greater than things that are good for themselves.'"
