"What used to be called "raw space" has never been so refined. The shabby chic of domesticating old industrial space has trickled upward to new housing, so that now it scarcely matters whether vats ever cooked glue or sewing machines once whirred inside. If it has bare concrete floors and ceilings 11 feet or higher, it can be called a loft and sold at a premium price... The new loft is the no-iron polyester offspring of the recycled industrial dwelling
