Businesses in Brooklyn Opening at Twice the Rate of Previous Decade

"Brooklyn businesses have been making room for new ones at a feverish pace," according to an article by Peter D'Amato. "Between 2009 and 2014, some 9,600 net new businesses opened in the borough, according to a Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce report released last month. This was twice the rate of openings from 2000 to 2009, when nearly 900 companies launched per year. In 2014 alone, the borough added 2,300 firms, a growth rate of 4.3%, compared with 3.1% citywide."
