The reorganization of planning department functions in the city of Philadelphia was one of the more substantial planning-related results of the November election. Now the new Planning and Development Department is taking shape.

Julia Terruso reports: "[Philadelphia] Mayor-elect Jim Kenney announced Anne Fadullon will head the city’s Planning and Development department – a newly created office."
Fadullon will be the first person to lead the new office after voters approved a Home Rule Charter change in the November election that consolidated planning, zoning, development services, and housing and community development functions.
Fadullon "is currently the Director of Development for the DALE Corporation, a construction management and consulting firm. She previously worked as Director of Development for the Redevelopment Authority under former Mayor Ed Rendell," according to Terruso.
Philadelphia Inquirer Architecture Critic Inga Saffron assessed Fadullon as a "strongly pro-development, pro-housing pick" on Twitter following the announcement.
