Oregon lovers and bridge lovers alike will find lots to appreciate in the "Spanning Oregon" series.

The Oregonian is continuing a series of features focusing on the bridges that connect the state, including the most recent article focusing on the Astoria-Megler Bridge spanning four miles across the Columbia River.
Richard Read writes that the Astoria-Megler Bridge "opened in 1966 as the nation's longest continuous truss bridge" and completing the U.S. highway system between Mexico and Canada. Now the bridge carries 7,000 vehicles per day and leaves room for shipping lanes beneath the span. The bridge is also getting a $20 million rehab.
The "Spanning Oregon" series has already featured the Vista Bridge, the Bridge of the Gods, St. Johns Bridge, and the Steel Bridge.
