California Secretary of Resources, Mary Nichols, discusses the development of the Malibu coastal plan imposed on the city by the state Coastal Commission.
The U.S. Supreme Court recently refused to hear cases pertaining to land use in Malibu. The justices refusal to take up the cases allows the state to move forward in providing greater public access to Malibus beaches. In addition, the California Coastal Commission recently drafted and imposed a local coastal plan on the city of Malibu, dictating Malibus land use policies going forward. To explain the recent state actions in Malibu, as well as discuss the implications of the recent Imperial-San Diego water accord and the impact of Propositions 51, Metro Investment Report is pleased to present this interview with Mary Nichols, the California Secretary for Resources and head of the Resources Agency.
