Metro, the transit agency for Los Angeles County, could be the first to peak under the hood at trip data generated by Lyft.
"Metro is negotiating an agreement with Lyft aimed at learning more about ride-share trips that begin and end at key Metro stations, agency staff members say," reports Laura J. Nelson. "The relationship would last at least a year and would give Metro a rare peek at data typically kept private."
Nelson also describes some of the ideas Metro has for how it would use the data gathered by Lyft drivers and users, especially in learning more about how people travel the all-important first and last mile, while placing the potential partnership in the larger context of transit and transportation debates of the 21st century.
