"A plan to remake an industrial area along Madison Avenue SE and add new housing along a stretch of Eastern Avenue SE has riled up a community development organization and spawned fears of gentrification," reports Matt Vande Bunte in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Rockford Construction is considering a $60 million investment in up to 75 properties, prompting theLINC Community Revitalization, Inc. community development corporation to hold a public meeting on the subject of the development. Vande Bunte provides a dispatch from the meeting, where residents listed concerns about local jobs and gentrification.
