AIA Honors the Best in Housing Design

The American Institute of Architects recently announced the winners of the 2016 Housing Awards.

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has put forward a list of ten selected firms for this years Housing Awards. The program, which started at the turn of the millennium, seeks to provide recognition to the 'best in housing design' and 'promote the importance of good housing as a necessity of life.'

The awards are presented in four categories: One/Two Family Custom Housing, One/Two Family Production Housing, Multifamily Housing, and Special Housing. The jury chose not award any firms in the category of One/Two Family Production Housing this year.

The article goes on to share images and details of each of the winners. Winning projects are found in Texas, Colorado, Hawaii, Oregon, and Mississippi for the One/Two Family Custom Housing. For Multifamily Housing, winning projects are located in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Special Housing winners are a college dorm in Massachusetts, a homeless veterans housing campus in Los Angeles, and cabins in a regional park in Minnesota.
