A coalition of the automated, if you will, as Ford, Volvo, Google, Uber, and Lyft have formed the new Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets to lobby for the causes of the nascent self-driving car industry.

David Shepardson breaks the news that Ford Motor Co., Volvo Cars, Google, Uber Technologies Inc., and Lyft have created the Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets "to work with lawmakers, regulators, and the public to realize the safety and societal benefits of self-driving vehicles."
The coalition has hired David Strickland, formerly of the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, as its counsel and spokesperson.
