New Carpool Lanes Under Construction in Los Angeles County

"The California Department of Transportation announced Friday that construction for a new carpool lane along a section of the 10 Freeway lane has begun," reports KPCC.

"The project will create about five miles of road going in both directions of the freeway between Citrus Street in West Covina and the 57 Freeway," according to the article. The article includes insight from a Caltrans official, who says the new lane will help manage the flow of traffic between Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.

In a separate article, Neal Broverman picked up on the news of the new I-10 carpool lane to note that the lane could help make the "slog" from Los Angeles to Palm Springs or Las Vegas quicker and easier—although the project is expected to take five years to complete.
