Water Supply Disaster Forecast For West

Global warming will have a devastating effect on the availability of water in the western United States, according to a new study.

"According to a new study conducted by more than two dozen scientists and engineers, global warming will severely reduce availablewater supplies in western states such as California. Scientists from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the University of Washington, the Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) collaborated on the study and foundthat future supplies will fall dramatically short of the projected demand. The West's continued population growth will make the problem worse."
