"The Bush administration announced plans today to loosen environmental safeguards for national forests by speeding up decisions that open public lands to logging and drilling.The proposed regulations, which closely track recommendations by the timber industry, would reduce the scientific and environmental reviews required when 15-year master plans are developed for the nation's 155 national forests and grasslands."
