The long awaited arrival of bikeshare has become a reality in Portland, Oregon.

Jonathan Maus has been closely monitoring the first days of Portland's new Biketown bikeshare system.
First, Maus shared a series of photos from the new system's launch event, featuring lots of orange bikes, Mayor Charlie Hales, U.S. Rep Earl Blumenauer, and cookies.
The next day, Maus provided an early tally of Biketown ridership. "According to numbers released by Biketown’s operator Motivate Inc. today (at our request), there have been 2,366 trips taken on the system since it was launched yesterday at 11:30 am," reports Maus."
