ULI President Richard Rosan discussesdevelopment trends in the United States.
" One of the most dramatic demographic movements taking place in America is the aging of the baby boom generation people who were born between 1945 and 1966. Baby boomers exert an enormous influence on our real estate industry and the economy in general. The collective purchasing power of baby boomers is now $1.6 trillion many are in their prime income-earning years. They tend to be much healthier and will stay in the workforce longer than the generation before them. And, when they retire, they will seek to live in communities that fit their lifestyle they are very active, very interested in culture and the arts, and they crave places for social interaction. As a result, a new market is forming to support the development of communities oriented to these older adults."
