Good news for transit riders in Detroit—new buses and 24-hour routes are coming soon.

"Detroit public transit users will soon see new buses and expanded service, including 24-hour routes and rides to Eastern Market," according to Bill Laitner.
The city is claiming that the new buses and routes constitute the largest expansion of bus service in 20 years. The expansion will "put 80 new buses on the road and add six new 24-hour routes — the first steps in what by January will add about 1,500 new trips to bus schedules in Detroit."
The funding for the expansion comes from the "city's Plan of Adjustment accounts, following Detroit's exit from bankruptcy court…"
