Commuters in the Indian capital, Delhi, ready to give up overcrowded buses and manic rickshaws for the brand new air-conditioned Metro system.
Delhi has long been known for horrendous air quality and congested and dangerous roadways. Now, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is opening the Metro, and hopes this advanced system will decrease pollution and speed residents through the crowded city. Real estate prices around stations are already increasing as restaurants and stores are being planned. The new computerized ticket system will be a welcome change for residents used to climbing onto the roofs of packed buses.
