San Diego mayor, Kevin Faulconer, calls for voters to support $1.8 billion new football stadium.

The San Diego Chargers have had one foot out the door of the city for years now. On this November's ballot, San Diego residents will decide whether or not to spend city dollars on a new stadium for the team. This month San Diego's Mayor, Kevin Faulconer, encouraged them to do just that, reports Johnny Magdaleno of Next City. "Faulconer’s support for the $1.8 billion “convadium,” where the San Diego Chargers would play, came as the NFL team agreed to certain concessions after negotiating with the mayor."
San Diegans might be wise to consult residents of Atlanta and St. Louis about the long term returns of paying for new stadiums for pro-sports teams.
