Greater Greater Washington raves about the new section of the Anacostia River Bike Trail, calling it arguably the most beautiful bike trail in the region.

"A new four-mile trail just opened along the east bank of the Anacostia River," according to Bryan Rodda, joining "two trails that were already there to create one big, continuous path that runs from where the Anacostia meets the Potomac to a number of places well into Maryland."
Rodda offers insight into the sometimes confusing collection of trails along the Anacostia River, which crosses a lot of jurisdictions and collects water from several tributaries that provide the path for the regional trail network. Until the new segment opened, according to Rodda, there was a gap in the system between Washington, D.C. and Maryland.
The new segment will be officially called part of the Anacostia River Trail. It weaves through the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens and connects to DC's Mayfair and Eastland Gardens neighborhoods. DDOT's Anacostia Waterfront Initiative team built the segment over the course of two years.
In addition to describing the significance of the trail, Rodda also takes a tour of the new trail, describing the trail as "gorgeous" along the way.
