The state with the worst drivers…is Utah.

That statement according to a new study from insurance company, Quote Wizard, written up by Cate McGehee.

"We sampled incident data (with more than two million data points) from the users of our website and linearly extrapolated it to Federal Highway Administration fatality data," McGehee reports. Because these are per capita but not per mile numbers, there are probably other effects contained in these numbers. One is how much driving is done in each state. Because, while accidents per capita provides important information, more driving means more deaths. It also may reflect the design of the streets and roads of the states.

The study found the best drivers were in Rhode Island.
