If 2013 was the year protected bike lanes went national, 2014 was the year they got beautiful and 2015 was the year they got durable, 2016 has been the year they did something even more valuable.

They started to connect.

That assessment comes from Michael Andersen in an article announcing the PeopleForBikes list of the best new bike lanes of 2016.

The following bike lanes took home awards, with more details, photos, and maps included in the source article.

  1. Westlake Avenue, Seattle
  2. Randolph Street, Chicago
  3. The Downtown-University network, Tallahasee
  4. River Street, Aurora
  5. Pulaski Bridge, New York City
  6. Telegraph Avenue, Oakland
