In a post for his blog Green City Blue Lake, Nick Ian Emenhiser compares the population of cities to their downtown populations. The resulting table makes for some interesting comparisons between American cities. Surprisingly, the biggest chunks of populations aren't always located in the city centers of more populous cities. In Orlando, for example, 16 percent of the city's residential population in its downtown, according Emenhiser's analysis. Compare that figure to Chicago, where 5 percent of its population lives downtown.
