The Dean of the University of Michigan's architecture and urban design school shows the power urban design charrettes in Detroit.
"[T]his month, Kelbaugh came to the river for what he called "the most promising of the five charrettes we've done in Detroit." A team of 70 U-M graduate students joined two dozen faculty members and national urban design experts Jan. 10-13 for a four-day brainstorm. Their mission: Generate ideas to complement the city's recently announced $500-million plan for a 3-mile River Walk and series of parks and developments."
