International architect Rafael Viñoly has been selected to design the Kennedy Center expanstion.

"After considering more than two dozen architects, the center picked Viñoly to extricate the Kennedy Center from the knot of freeways that has isolated it since it was built in 1971. Viñoly won wide acclaim for the new Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, two stunning concert halls nestled beneath a vaulted glass canopy."
