Washington Post editorial approves of architect Rafael Viñoly's plan for the extension to the Kennedy Center.
"This week the Kennedy Center announced an extension plan that would go a long way toward curing that urban design error. The plan, as laid out by architect Rafael Viñoly, would cover over the highways and build a broad plaza on top of them, stretching some way toward the center of town. Better yet, the plan would also achieve something architects should have made a priority in the first place: At last it will be possible to stroll from the Kennedy Center to the Lincoln Memorial grounds, and along the Potomac River itself. The city will be integrated with the Kennedy Center, and the Kennedy Center will be integrated into the D.C. waterfront. Finally, downtown Washington will be connected in some way with its river."
