Grayson, Atlanta exemplifies the kind of administrative considerations that can make or break development approval processes.
Karen Huppertz reports that the city of Grayson, located outside Atlanta, has approved an amendment to change the process by which development projects apply for variances and special use permits.
"In the past, applicants seeking a zoning variance were required to submit applications to both the council and the Zoning Board of Appeals," explains Huppertz. "The amendment will allow the council to hear variances in limited circumstances so that two applications are not necessary."
According to Huppertz, the change brings the Grayson approvals process more in line with common practices around the country.
