"'Downtown Asheville - On the Verge' examines how downtown has achieved its renaissance and what issues will arise as leaders, residents and business owners strive to sustain the success. The project involved a process called "civic mapping" in which reporters conducted hundreds of interviews with people from all walks of life over the course of several months. From the initial interviews, we distilled several key topics for this five-day series: SUNDAY: What downtown has become, how it got there and where it's heading. MONDAY: How city leaders and planners are addressing housing and service needs in downtown. TUESDAY: What's being done to create sustainable business in downtown. WEDNESDAY: How the perception and the reality about downtown safety don't always match. THURSDAY: A multimedia journey through 24 hours in downtown Asheville."

I love the variety of courses, many practical, and all richly illustrated. They have inspired many ideas that I've applied in practice, and in my own teaching. Mary G., Urban Planner
