The perpetual project to improve transit service in San Francisco has a new chapter.
"The Muni Forward project is bringing a new slew of service changes to transit lines across the city," according to an article by Teresa Hammerl. "Some lines are getting more buses and trains, others less, and one line is getting some bigger new buses added to the lineup," according to Hammerl's summary of the changes, which went into effect in late February. Stop thinning on the L Line is also included.
Hammerl breaks down the changes into taxonomies, according to which lines will gain frequency, reduce frequency, gain new buses, or change routes and stops. "According to SFMTA, the changes are based on feedback from Muni riders, adding service to popular routes and reducing frequency on others to prevent terminal crowding or to address under-used service," adds Hammerl.
The Muni Forward program has been announcing service changes intermittently, and this is not the first batch of changes to roll out. Planetizen has been tracking the program since 2014.
