Towards the end of 2002, the Los Angeles City Council passed a handful of ordinances geared towards encouraging development, particularly housing, along many of the city's commercial corridors. The Planning Report present an interview with Jane Blumenfeld, Principal City Planner for the city of Los Angeles, in which she explains the intention of these ordinances and the task of addressing the demand for housing and neighborhood services in a built-out Los Angeles
