From an architect's rendering, it looks like a stunning addition to a downtown defined by heavy masonry buildings: a glassy office tower with a dramatic, bowed bay soaring skyward.There's one problem, though. The 24-story tower, proposed for the southeast corner of E. Wisconsin Ave. and N. Broadway, would be located smack in the middle of a local historic district, requiring demolition of a block of rare, Civil War-era commercial buildings.
