A clean environment isn't the only benefit of clean energy. Clean energy jobs are also providing economic mobility for many of the 3 million people employed in the industry.

Johnny Magdaleno reports on the revelations included the U.S. Energy and Employment report, released by the U.S. Department of Energy in February.
The big story from the report: that clean energy is employing more than 3 million people in the United States. Magdaleno's article, however, suggests that the data don't do justice to the industry's impact on the economy. "Zoom in on that number and you’ll likely find one story after another of how the sector has changed lives," writes Magdaleno.
Exhibiting the power of the clean energy industry to shape lives for the better, Magdaleno focuses on the work of GRID Alternatives, "a solar nonprofit that provides systems to low- and moderate-income households, and targets its training initiatives at people with barriers to employment like incarceration records."
