The most effective universities of the next generation will be those that can serve as catalysts for vitality in their regions. The goal of this Colloquium was to have all participants leave with a stronger and more informed commitment to creating cohesion and alliance between great universities and their cities, and a greater appreciation for the enormous benefits that these relationships can bring to all concerned. " Universities have a self-interest in making the neighborhoods around them more attractive to potential students and faculty."
