"The advice Trias gave involved a public planning process, which he deems half of the partnership that must exist for new urbanism to succeed. For Fort Pierce, it meant a series of meetings and charrettes, and the commitment of commissioners, residents and the private sector. What that has translated to in the past seven years is a laundry list of projects Trias is proud of, including waterfront development of a library, the visitor center at Seven Gables House and the Manatee Observation and Education Center. Other improvements can be seen on Orange and Delaware avenues and on Avenue D at the new police substation."
