Planner and Knight Program fellow Jennifer Hurley offers a personal account of her experiences with new urbanism.
"I didnt find answers to any of those questions in planning school until I stumbled upon new urbanism. Unlike other material I encountered in planning school, new urbanism promoted an ideal of what makes a "good" citywalkability, transit-accessibility, mixed uses and diversity. The principles of new urbanism articulated the things I liked about cities and towns as well as the things I disliked about conventional suburban development."
