A new public service announcement from Oregon Metro brings the point of Vision Zero goals for traffic safety close to home.

"Metro released a new video this morning that reveals why a different approach to traffic safety is so important," according to an article by Jonathan Maus.
"It starts as a standard, boring, government agency PSA. I almost tuned it out, but I’m glad I watched it all the way through. Metro asks people in the video (watch it below the jump) three simple questions," writes Maus.
Those questions begin with "How many people do you think are killed or severely injured in traffic crashes in the Portland metro area each year?" Second up is "What do you think is a good goal [of crash reduction] for the region?" Finally, for the perspective-shifting homerun: "What should the goal be for your family?"
It should be noted, as Maus does at the beginning of the article, that the video is the work of the Oregon Metro, which is updating the Regional Transportation Safety Action Plan as part of the 2018 Regional Transportation Plan.
