"The federal government should encourage Canadians to leave their cars at home in favour of public transit by creating an urban transit fund, beginning with $1-billion in next week's federal budget, an advisory panel on the environment says.In order to make the fund sustainable over the long term, Ottawa should further invest $1-billion a year for the next decade, the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy recommended in a report released recently."
