Toronto has released draft urban design guidelines that put families with children at the center of the city.

Rachel Dovey shares news of a new report from Toronto, Ontario that provides planning guidance for dense, tall neighborhoods on accommodating families and children.
"The report, 'Planning for Children in New Vertical Communities,' is pretty much exactly what its name would suggest," writes Dovey. "Toronto is literally growing up, and those tall buildings need to better accommodate families."
The report recommends retrofitting on three scales: "the neighborhood, the building and the unit itself." The article includes graphics from the report to illustrate some of the big ideas that will inform that effort.
For more on the new report, see also an article by Stefan Novakovic, written for Urban Toronto.
