RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. lost its last tenant in late 2015, and now D.C. leaders have a new plan for the site.

"Washington’s Mayor Muriel E. Bowser (D), members of the late Robert F. Kennedy’s family, and Events DC announced…the launch of a memorial project to honor the U.S. senator who was assassinated in 1968," reports Michael E. Ruane.
The memorial will be on the site of Robert F. Kennedy Stadium in Washington, the former home of D.C.'s NFL franchise.
According to a statement by Events DC to announce the plans for the memorial, the "RFK Memorial project is part of the overall redevelopment plan for the site that officials hope will unfold over the next five to seven years."
"The project foresees the demolition of the old stadium and the transformation of the site into a $490 million multipart sports, recreation and market complex," adds Ruane. More details on the development and infrastructure investments are included in the article.
