Peter Zellner's experimental, tuition-free architectural school is officially in session.
The Free School of Architecture, founded by U.S. designer Peter Zellner, launched June 1 with a mission to "promote diversity and free access to architectural knowledge while experimenting with teaching models and formats."
The tuition-free school is hosted at The Container Yard, a creative campus in the Arts District. It was initially slated to meet at the Architecture + Design Museum, but higher-than-expected enrollment necessitated a bigger facility. The school's first class consists of 36 post-graduate students and 16 teachers, as well as an advisory board, volunteer group, and other staff.
FSA will produce an online and print journal, FSAONE, whose first issue is expected to highlight the school's inaugural symposium on radical architectural pedagogy.
