Uber Hoping to Mend Relationship with Drivers by Offering Equity, Tips

Uber drivers may be offered equity in the company if a company plan goes through.

While some of its first investors are looking to unload their stakes, Uber is hoping to give some ownership to its drivers. "Uber has met with the SEC about the possibility of giving drivers equity in the company, according to an Axios report, citing an anonymous source," Caroline Cakebread writes for Business Insider.

The transportation network company is in the midst of a campaign called "180 Days of Change," which is intended to improve its relationship with its drivers. Among other things, "Uber has begun to roll out a tipping option in certain cities, a wait time fee, and increased in injury protection," Cakebread reports.
