"The Hartford Line, a commuter rail that will connect Hartford to New Haven and Springfield and include stations in Connecticut suburbs, will begin running in May, state officials announced Monday," reports Dylan McGuinness.

"The 62-mile Hartford Line has been sought for decades by state officials for its potential to connect the suburbs to urban centers and spur development next to new stations," adds McGuinness. Indeed, Planetizen caught wind of the proposal in 2006 and 2011

"The $623 million project includes $432.2 million in state funds and another $190.9 million from the federal government," according to the article.
