More than one media outlet praised Los Angeles' optimism for cutting a deal with the International Olympics Committee to host the 2028 Olympics.

Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympics. Details of the deal that will bring the games to Los Angeles are included in an article by David Wharton.
The response to the announcement from most places not called the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has been cautious, to say the least.
For the Daily Show, Trevor Noah congratulates the city on its optimism that there will actually be a 2028. Marina Hyde also congratulates the city on its optimism for that same reason and a few others (with tongue in cheek) in commentary for The Guardian.
Hyde also has this to say about the other player in this game, the International Olympics Committee:
As far as the IOC goes, of course, the deal confirms the levels of panic within the organisation over finding host cities. Cutting a deal to lock in both Paris and Los Angeles indicates how rattled they are by cities’ waning interest in being screwed over by them (do forgive the technicalese).
Finally, the Los Angeles Times editorial board produced its own words of caution about only trusting the IOC as far a hammer throw.
