The St. Louis Trolley should begin operating later this year, but planners are hoping for additional funding to allow the service to operate longer hours.

"The long-delayed Loop Trolley project is asking for an additional $500,000 from St. Louis County, which already has kicked in $3 million," reports Mark Schlinkmann.
"[T]he extra county dollars would, among other things, allow the trolley to have longer operating hours and thus improve its chances of success," adds Schlinkmann to explain the extra request.
The article also announces the fare structure for the trolley. The system is expected to begin operations on a 2.2-mile route "between the Delmar Loop in University City and west St. Louis and the Missouri History Museum in Forest Park" by the end of the year.
