Chicago's cashless transit payment system (Ventra) could pay for Divvy Bike rentals in the city according to city officials.

Chicago officials say that the city's bikeshare program may be compatible with Ventra, the city's transit pay system, in the future. Transportation Commissioner Rebekah Scheinfeld said that she is working with Ventra and Divvy to make this possible. "Allowing Ventra card holders to use their cash-less fare cards to pay for Divvy would encourage even more CTA riders to rent bikes for their final leg of the journey to work, school, shopping or recreation," Fran Spielman reports for the Chicago Sun Times.
The expanding Divvy program recently passed the 12-million ride mark.
