Faster, No Matter the Cost

A California vehicle fee got governor Grey Davis booted out of office, Cavanaugh argues.

"In Los Angeles, a group of Westside residents have begun a campaign to recall City Councilman, Mike Bonin, for his support of so-called road diets that have eliminated traffic lanes," Cavanaugh writes. These diets which were put on some of the state's most dangerous streets may cost Bonin his position. Cavanaugh contends that this posture among the voters will confound necessary and reasonable policies by chastening California's politicians.
