The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission recently launched RainReadySF, a flood resilience strategy meant to link the city's ongoing resilience efforts with individuals and businesses.
In Smart Cities Dive, Kristin Musulin explains that proposed infrastructure investments outlined in the plan include a $700M for sewer improvements over the next 15 years. For residents, SFPUC wants to offer flood insurance, free sandbags, and training on how to maintain neighborhood storm drains.
"SFPUC is also considering requiring neighborhoods to develop better flood maps, new construction standards in flood areas, and flood-protection requirements for property sales and renovations," Musulin reports.
