The "Cities and Innovation Economy: Perceptions of Local Leaders" report reveals the traction smart cities technology is gaining in municipal budgets.
Teena Maddox shares news of a recent report from the National League of Cities that finds more and more investment in smart city technology. According to the report, " 66% of cities reporting that they are investing in smart city technology, and 25% of those without any smart city systems are exploring how to implement it," explains Maddox.
The report also lists the most popular forms of smart cities technology: smart meters for utilities, intelligent traffic signals, e-governance, Wi-Fi kiosks, and radio frequency identification sensors in pavement.
The National League of Cities surveyed elected city official from around the country to generate the report.
