A proposal to build an elevated expressway to provide passage for cars to and from the McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas has folded.

County officials have scrapped plans for an elevated expressway connecting McCarran International Airport to the Las Vegas Strip.
"The proposed expressway, which would have cost an estimated $200 million, would have run along Koval Lane and Swenson Street to and from McCarran International Airport. It was touted by county staff and engineering consultants CH2M as the best option for handling airport traffic, which is expected to increase," according to an article by April Corbin.
The proposed expressway ran into opposition from several interests. The Nevada Resort Association and the University of Nevada Las Vegas opposed the project. "Private citizens also expressed a preference for infrastructure spending on mass transit options such as light rail and monorail," reports Corbin. Planetizen picked up on the news of the proposal, and the emerging backlash against the project, back in April 2016.
