Tejon Ranch owns what might be the largest contiguous stretch of land controlled by one property owner in California.
"Tejon Ranch Company, a publicly traded corporation, is now pursuing major development projects on opposite ends of the ranch: a 1,400-acre industrial park at Interstate 5 and Highway 99 in Kern County; and a new town of 23,000 housing units on 11,700 acres at I-5 and Highway 138. The new town would lie the edge of the Tehachapi Mountains and the western Antelope Valley in northern Los Angeles County. Tejon Ranch is also pursing a resort development of some type, but the company has declined to elaborate publicly."
