In a new paper prepared for Grantmakers In the Arts and the Funders Network for Smart Growth, Solimar researchers William Fulton and Morris Newman discuss the role each plays in building communities and the potential they have to work together to this end. Their conclusion: The arts and smart growth can learn from each other and build a more powerful sense of community-whether community of interest or community of place-if they work together.
